So here is my first sample scene from Commando Xenidis with source code. In case you are interested, others will follow.
It is a universe with one sun (planet) and 30 planets around the sun.
It also has a skymap.
Please don't use my planet names or textures.
The source is not documented yet, but I'll answer your questions if there are any.
My main problem is the lighting: All planets get equal lighting, no matter if they are near the sun or far away. And it would be better if the parts not pointing to the sun were darker... I need urgent help on this, if you have some idea, please let me know and feel free to change the code or use it yourself!
If I lower the values in the planets materials (load_planets), they get darker but still every planet has the same lighting, you can change the values for each planet, but I want real lighting on them, please help me out!
